  • By the mid-1960's The Stones were second only to The Beatles in popularity.
  • One of the factors contributing to the group's success was its willingness to experiment with instruments that hadn't previously been used by rock bands.

Career History:

Formed in 1961 by schoolmates Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, what has become known as the world's greatest rock & roll band originally performed covers of other artists' hit songs. Their first album, in 1964, contained only one Jagger-Richards original, "Tell Me". Working virtually nonstop since their beginning, the group has released more than 50 albums, including compilations.
Essential CD.

Sticky Fingers

This was the first album recorded on the group's own label, the first in which Mick Taylor played guitar on all the tracks, and only the fourth to be released worldwide. Because it contains tracks recorded at various times between 1969 and 1971, it serves as a showcase of the Stones' work at a time when the group was still honing its musical identity.
