I Wayan Balawan born in Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia on 9 Sept 1973. Balawan started playing music since age 8 and later formed the band while still in elementary school. Balawan played a few songs Scorpions, Deep Purple and Beatles. Because bored with rock music, after school Balawan moved to Sydney to study jazz guitar and vocals at the Australian Institute Of Music. Balawan also obtained a scholarship for 3 years for Diploma Of Music.
Balawan became known in Sydney for 5 years until he finally returned to his hometown in Bali in 1997 and later formed a band called Batuan Ethnic Fusion (Ethnic Music of Bali, combined with the Jazz). Batuan Ethnic Fusion debut album titled "Globalism" is finally released.
Balawan is a very talented guitarist with a very distinctive style of play, a technique known as "Tapping Touch Style" (as does Stanley Jordan). A game that utilizes all eight fingers to play a tap on the fretboard. At first glance this game looks like a piano playing: play bass, chord and melody, all played with fingers left and right index finger ... almost without being picked. Balawan game seems so smooth and slippery. Balawan developing your own unique independent tap where the game left and right finger was really nothing to do (completely different). Balawan is a guitar teacher and often perform at several music schools in Indonesia. Balawan also diendorse by Ibanez and Laney.
Previous Balawan also has toured in Europe: East Meet West Germany Edekoben Gitarren Festival 2000 Tour, the tour to 20 cities in Germany in 2001, tour to the Hell Blues Festival in Norway (Sept 2001) and released a solo album produced in Germany in 2001.
In 2005 Balawan release his solo album, entitled Magic Fingers. Album half-idealist and a half is not only a commercial featuring an instrumental guitar game alone, but also presents Balawan vocal ability though. He also recycles some of the songs that had ngehits in the 80's like All can say is the creation of Charles Hutagalung and the Meaning of Life creation Oddie Agam. Instrumental hits of the most impressive is the Mainz In My Mind is often played by Balawan in several shows. At the time of releasing this album Balawan have used double-neck guitar made Stephallen original guitar factory in Sidoarjo, East Java, which also mengendorse it as a major artist.
In 2006 he also appeared in concert '5 Guitar Masters' in Yogyakarta featuring Eet Sjahranie, Ian Antono, Eross Chandra, and Ridho Slank.
