Biography:

In early 1981, drummer Lars Ulrich put an ad in a local newspaper looking for personnel to form a band. This ad is received from James Hetfield, who immediately joined the band that has not had this name.

Initial formation of Metallica is Lars Ulrich (drums), James Hetfield (vocals / guitar), Dave Mustaine (guitar), Ron McGovney (bass). Formation of this initial change immediately because of Lars and James did not feel in line with Dave and Ron.

Guitarist and bassist position was immediately replaced by Kirk Hammett and Cliff Burton. This formation is then released their first album KILL 'EM ALL. Commercially, the first album and their second album, RIDE THE LIGHTNING can not call it a success.

Only then Metallica release their third album Master of Puppets, success started to come. This album is Metallica's first album which won a gold album. Even in 2003 yesterday, this album has won six platinum albums.

In 1987, Jason Newsted joined Metallica because Cliff Burton died in an accident in Sweden. These formations could last a long time until Jason decided to resign in 2001 yesterday. Currently working on their eighth album, ST. Anger was forced to base positions filled by their producer Bob Rock.

After spending 3 months looking for a replacement, Jason, finally Robert Trujillo was selected as the base. With this formation, Metallica finally recording their ninth album DEATH MAGNETIC.
